April 17, 2019

In conjunction with the US Coast Guard, the Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC), EPA & TCEQ, Southwest Shipyard was approved late today as the facility that will conduct decontamination & cleaning of all large equipment and vessels involved in the 2nd 80s Fire Deer Park, Texas (ITC fire & spill). The Southwest Shipyard Channelview Gas Front-Barge Cleaning facility has the permitting in place & the technology on hand to decontaminate & clean all of large equipment and vessels and has been told that they are going to receive some portion of the approximately 17 million gallons of contaminated water that was collected during the clean-up event to date. Southwest Shipyard has been selected before by response officials to do exactly the same type of clean-up, remediation & water treatment on other spill responses in the Houston Ship Channel area.
