Southwest Shipyard LP wins back to back Multiple Safety Awards
Southwest Shipyard LP, a leading provider of vessel repair, refurbishing, new construction and cleaning services to the marine industry, was awarded multiple safety awards, two years now running, at the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) general membership meeting on April 23rd, 2015 in Washington, D.C. More than 85 maritime member representatives from across the country were on hand. These safety awards represent the SCA member’s commitment to keeping maritime workers safe on the job.

Through their proactive approaches and dedication to improved worker health and safety, these member companies have demonstrated their initiative& leadership. Southwest Shipyard was awarded both the award for Excellence in safety and the Award for Improvement in Safety Performance.
The criteria for the Excellence in Safety award-
Companies are eligible for this award if they submit all quarterly SCA safety surveys, have no fatalities throughout the current year and have a recordable rate (TRIR) below the SCA average.We are pleased to announce that Southwest Shipyard was awarded the Excellence in Safety Award for 2014.
The criteria for the Improvement in Safety Performance award-
Companies are eligible for this award if they submit all quarterly SCA safety surveys, have no fatalities throughout the current year and reduce their year on year TRIR by ten percent or more. We are pleased to announce that Southwest Shipyard was awarded the Improvement in Safety Performance Award for 2014.
