Southwest Shipyard, L.P. New Ferry

August 27th, 2015, Houston – Southwest Shipyard, L.P., have been awarded the bid to build the new 150’ long – 28 car passenger ferry for the Texas Department of Transportation Port Aransas Ferry Operations. This will be the 3rd vessel of this type in the Port Aransas Fleet following her sister ships, the CHARLES W HEALD and MICHAEL W BEHRENS. Both of those vessels were also built by Southwest Shipyard. The new vessel, yet to be named, will be delivered to Port Aransas in February of 2017.
